Dr. Stylianos Kyriacou
CO-FOUNDER, CtO
Stelios co-created the advanced optimization methods that Norachem uses to solve problems in molecular design. He is also spearheading the coupling of state-of-the-art predictive models in machine learning with optimization algorithms to construct computational models of the biological targets to which the molecules must bind.
Stelios has extensive experience in solving problems of similar complexity in other industries. At Tachyus, he combined evolutionary algorithms, gradient-based methods, artificial intelligence, knowledge-based systems, and variable correlation detection to solve optimization problems in the oil and gas industry. Before Tachyus, he spent six years at Andritz Hydro, a global leader in hydraulic energy generation, where he created and led a team of optimization experts located across Europe and South America.
Stelios has published extensively on the use of mathematical methods in optimization. Owing to the high quality of his publications, the International Association of Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research has cited him as "one of the preeminent experts in the world in optimization algorithms for hydraulic turbo-machinery."
Stelios received his Ph.D. from the Parallel Computational Fluid Dynamics and Optimization Unit (PCOpt) of the National Technical University of Athens, Greece.
